Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to allow Nigerians to exercise their to protest and stop arresting them.

This contained in a statement issued on Saturday frowned at the government for intimidating protesters exercising their rights on the state of the nation.

The statement reads:

“The Buhari administration must allow people to exercise their right to protest.

“No one should ever be targeted simply for peacefully exercising their rights. Those arrested should be immediately released.

“We’ll hold the administration to account for any attacks on protesters.

“We urge the Buhari administration and Nigeria Police to immediately release ALL protesters reportedly arrested for participating in the #June12thProtest.

“We’ll take legal action if they’re not released.

“Protest is legal, and we plan to fight to keep it that way, the statement concluded.
