A right activist Comrade Soyoye Ekundayo has declared that the planned protest against the reopening of Lekki Tollgate is a grand design by the enemies of Lagos that have been paid to destroy the state and detract Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu from doing good job.
He made the declaration Thursday in Lagos while fielding questions from newsmen in Lagos where he urged the good people of the state to shun the overtures of the organizers, saying, the protest appears to be full of destructive tendencies.
Recall, Lagos State panel of Inquiries recently granted the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) , permission to reopen the Toll Gate for operation which was not gone well with the sections of #endsars protesters.
Ekundayo, who is also a political observer and National Convener of the Progressive Volunteers, stated that, no law abiding citizen of Nigeria would allow himself to be misled and used for an illegal protest like the one the protagonists are planning for Saturday, February 13, explaining that, the decision to reopen the project was arrived at according to the rule of law.
According to him, the eminent personalities on the panel of Inquiries, who granted the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), permission to reopen the Toll Gate put it into votes where the outcome was five in favour and 4 against, wondering what else does any law abiding person needs to comply with a democratic process?!
Ekundayo, therefore, suspected that, the planners of the protest must have been paid by their masters to detract Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to lose concentration in his double job of moving the state forward and clearing the mess caused by the destroyers of heritages, praying, God would not allow them to succeed.
Speaking further, the youth leader appealed to the protest organizers to cooperate with and assist Saanwo-Olu in any way he can source for fund to tackle the enormous challenges the #EndSARS protest created for him, asserting that, what the governor need most now is more cooperation of the people that would allow him to be more focussed in handling the state that is bigger and more complex than three countries in other spheres combined.
The political commentator is of the conviction that, keeping the multi-billion naira project out of operation would amount to double jeopardy for Lagos State that suffered needless destructions from the hands of the senseless destroyers disguised as protesters to carry out their pay masters’ devilish instruction.
While supporting the reopening of the project, Ekundayo called the attention of the protest planners to the indisputable fact that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would need money to correct the wanton destructions visited on the state, admitting that, the destruction was so devastating so much that Sanwo-Olu had to appeal to jet to the seat of power in Abuja to solicit for the Federal Government intervention.
“This is the right time for all hands to be on deck to think out of the box on how the governor could get sufficient fund for the enormous task before him. It would then amount to an irony if those expected to be patriotic enough to find a way out for the governor are now cooking destructive ideas on how to stifle the available avenue for legitimate fund raising. We therefore urge the good people of the state and beyond to ignore the counter-productive antics of a few misguided elements amongst us and rally round the governor in the good job he has been doing,” Ekundayo appealed.
Rounding off, the concerned activist reminded that the COVID-19 protocols are still in force and people should observe all the preventive measures spelt out by the authorities, asserting that, “their so called #OccupyLekkiTollGate cannot guarantee safety of human lives at the venue, another reason it should be ignored.”
