The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations donated food items and other consumables on Thursday, to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Lagos Zonal Command and the National Drug law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Presenting the gift items on behalf of the State Government, the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties, Engineer Tayo Bamgbose – Martins represented by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Jimoh Yusuph, stated that the donations are the State Government’s response to the needs of the Federal Parastatals as indicated in a report presented by the Director, Inter-Governmental Relations Mr. Bankole Adetola.
The said report was put forward by Mr. Bankole following a state wide familiarization visit by the Ministry in March of 2020, to Federal Parastatals operating in the State.
The donations are aimed at complementing the efforts of NAPTIP and NDLEA in the care of Victims of Human Trafficking, Victims of Drug Abuse and even offenders in the care of both law enforcement Agencies.
Dr. Jimoh stated that Lagos State under the administration of His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed towards ensuring the safety of all who live in Lagos state, therefore its support to Federal Parastatals operating in the State is to facilitate and ensure a robust and result oriented operations.
Receiving the donation, the Zonal Commander, NAPTIP Lagos Command, Aganran Ganiu Alao, on behalf of the Director- General Hajia Imaan Sulaiman – Ibrahim expressed gratitude to his Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose for the timely support being given to the NAPTIP Lagos Command.
Describing His Excellency, the Governor as a leader who responds to the plight of the people and Lagos State as indeed a state of excellence in governance, Mr. Aganran assured that the donations would be used judiciously to the benefits of the Victims of Human Trafficking in the Command’s Shelter. He added that the NAPTIP Lagos Command looks forward to an even stronger working relationship with the State Government as a whole and the Ministry of Special Duties in particular.
