Bishop Oyedepo has set the target of giving at least N200 Billion at the going exchange rate of N500 to $1 from his own personal pocket towards building of Churches in his lifetime.

During the new year Crossover service on Friday, he stated that before he had one block to his name, he had been involved in the construction of a chapel for a school.

According to him, he was giving for the construction of over 100 new churches. The least of the churches of 100 capacity size is going for N14 million (N$28,000) while the biggest or 400 capacity size is going for N35 million ($70,000). This implies that the Bishop will conservatively be giving a minimum of between N1.5 and N3 Billion towards construction of more than 100 churches .

Bishop Oyedepo said further, “The first house I was involved with in my life was a chapel for a school. I never had a block to myself and it wasn’t that I had some money somewhere. I was believing God for every stage of it.
Will I pray to build a house anymore? Never!
Did you pray before? Never!
The only one I prayed was the one built for Him.

“It’s just that we don’t have where to fellowship”, that’s all I heard.
You don’t have where to fellowship? Students. I said okay, have they given you a place to build?
Response: Yes
First in my life!

“We live in a small place called ‘The Mandate’. I never knew the cost until when it was finished. I never let anybody in this world know that I was building. There is not one dime of Church money in that place.
Seek ye first drives my life.
I’ve not found out from my wife how many of the rural churches we are building but I know what I put in there for it, not 100 houses.
You better start from where you are: you can’t build a house, buy a chair…buy a block
Find out from them how much is a block”?

Bishop Oyedepo has vowed to beat the Biblical King David who gave generously to the building of the acclaimed ‘Solomon’s’ Temple. Theologians have said King David gave about $400 million in gold towards the building of the Temple.

According to historians, Solomon’s Temple, completed around 960 BCE, was a magnificent golden structure that became the key sacred place for Jews and a major tourism attraction in the ancient world. Many of the key events in Jesus’ life happened in the temple and surrounding complex.

Living Faith Church established 5,082 Churches in 2019 and another 10,404 in 2020 especially during the lockdown. This is apart from 835 newly planted churches across 35 nations. The building of 9,250 Churches constitute only the first phase of the N200 Billion ($400 Million) project which is meant to commence and be concluded in 2021.

In the 1990s, on completion of the 50,000 capacity Faith Tabernacle in 1999, Bishop Oyedepo had also built a mansion at Iyana Ipaja but he soon left the facility to stay in Canaanland in order to meet the demands of pastoring the former largest church auditorium on the planet.

Bishop David Oyedepo has often related the story of how King Solomon first of all spent 7 years building the temple before spending the next 14 years on his house. This example is what he uses to explain the priority of building for God before your own property.
