Owa of Igbajoland joins Ancestors, IDA Commiserates |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Igbajo Development Association (IDA) Board of Trustees on Tuesday said the passage of the His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr) Olufemi Adeniyi Ilufemiloye FASADE,(Akeran IV) marked the end of an era.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and it’s Secretary, Engr.(Elder) Olúsolá Alalade, and Mr. Láí Onipede commiserated with the people of Igbajo land, Osun State and indeed Nigeria, as king joined his ancestors on the night of Wednesday 23rd December, 2020.

According to the statement as quoted “the official announcement of his demise was done today after the Omo Owa commenced the royal burial rites in the town in line with the tradition and the official letter of his demise was handed over to the Governor of the State, Governor Isiaka Oyetola, by a delegation led by the Asiwaju of Igbajoland, Adegboyega Solomon Awomolo, SAN, notifying him of the passage of the First Class Oba and the first Secretary of the Osun State Council of Obas.

“His Royal Highness Oba Olufemi Adeniyi FASADE was appointed as Owa of Igbajoland in the then Oyo State in 5th of August 1990.
When Osun State was created in 1991,he was appointed the first Secretary to the Osun State Council of Obas while His Royal Majesty Oba Okunade Olubuse Sijuade II was the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs.
Oba FASADE maintained his First Class status to the end (1990-2020).

“An engineer by profession and a Soldier by training, he rose to become a Major in the Nigerian Army where he voluntarily retired floated his own Construction Company.

“He ascendend the throne of his father on 5th of August,1990.
His reign brought many developments to the town. Of note are:
(1) the Construction of Igbajo-Imesi-Ile road

(2) Public telephone lines were installed
(3) Pipe borne water was commissioned for use
.(4) Igbajo and Iresi had their own separate Local Council Development Area.(5)the creation of 10 different chiefdoms each with Baale as the head with some of them with Schools,electricity and other social amenities.
(6) It was to his credit that the first Community-owned Polytechnic, Igbajo Polytechnic was established.
.(7) Igbajo-Edemosi road under construction
(8)Lastly the Igbajo-Ada road is under rehabilitation before he finally passed away.

“According to the Asiwaju of Igbajoland during the Press Conference held on Monday, the 28th December, 2020 at Osogbo, he announced that the funeral rites had commenced peacefully in honor of the late Oba and the race for a new Oba would not be until after three months.

“The Board of Trustees, Igbajo Development Association wishes the town a peaceful period of interregnum, the statement concluded.
