The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, says it has deployed 1,800 personnel to provide adequate security before, during and after the yuletide in the state.

The NSCDC Commandant, Edenabu Eweka, said this in a statement in Akure on Tuesday issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Olufemi Omole.

Eweka, who said that the personnel were deployed across 18 local government areas, urged them to provide security and shun any form of violation of human rights while discharging their statutory duties.

“We have deployed our men to ensure the safeguarding of all critical national assets and infrastructure, crowd and traffic control, disaster/crisis management and intelligence gathering.

“The personnel deployed will cover various recreation centres, religious gatherings, motor parks and all identified crime prone areas,” he said.

Eweka said the Command would continue to strengthen collaborations with sister security agencies as part of a joint task force to comb the entire state and rid her of all criminal elements.

The Commandant appealed to the people of Ondo State to provide prompt information that would lead to the arrest of criminal minded persons.

He urged the general public to continue to observe all COVID-19 protocols. (NAN)
