Lagos State College of Nursing Igando is set to admit 75 new students into the Department of Midwifery following the approval from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to increase the number of student intakes into the College.
The Provost of the College, Mrs. Oyefunso Orenuga, disclosed this during a recent meeting with stakeholders of the College.
She added that the approval from the Council not only permitted LASCON to admit 75 students into the Department of Midwifery but also endorsed the admission of 100 students into the Department of Nursing as against the previous 30 each.
Orenuga commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for the accomplishment through his support and provision of the required infrastructure and manpower needed.
She particularly appreciated the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, who toiled day and night during the Resource Verification Exercise, to ensure that the College got approval for the two departments.
Orenuga pointed out that the approval, however, comes with some challenges because of the need to create more space for the increased number of new intakes.
She also implored the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, to assist the College in establishing a more conducive and habitable environment for the old and new students as well as for all staff members.
