Mr Gbolahan Yishawu, member representing Eti-Osa Constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has called on all Lagosians to embrace peace and restrain from activities that might escalate the crisis occasioned by the unfortunate incident at Lekki toll-gate on Tuesday night which has been reported to have led to the death and injury of some Lagosians.
He expressed shock and sadness at reports of shootings of protesters, condemning the decision to employ force in handling such a delicate situation.
He commiserates with families of the victims and everyone affected by this unfortunate incident and prays for speedy recovery for those receiving treatment at the hospitals. He called for justice for the victims of that incident as well as for all those who have suffered losses over the last days.
He appealed for calm and vigilance on the part of everyone.
The Legislator appealed for cooperation with the Lagos State Government and urged Lagosians to take advantage of all the measures that have been put in place by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, especially the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, to deliver justice to victims of police brutality.
Yishawu condemned the acts of arson and wanton destruction of property, as has been witnessed, reminding the perpetrators of such heinous acts that what they are destroying belongs to Lagosians collectively.
