A Pan-Development Organization, the Progressive Volunteers (PV), has assured the Lagos State residents that, the total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge for three days from Friday 09, 2020 would not cause any additional hardship reminding that, “we are still very much on ground to assist.”

In a statement from the group’s leader , Comrade Soyoye Ekundayo, reminded that, 1000 Volunteers from the group deplored to assist the Federal Government at the beginning of the Bridge’s repairs are still solidly on ground to assist in whatever form possible to save the public extra unnecessary hardship the project may cause.

“Remember we have raised 1000 volunteers to assist in the traffic control to allow for smooth motoring across the vital areas in the Lagos metropolis at the inception of the repair,” Ekundayo reminded in the statement, promising to keep his men on ground till the end of the job.

The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), said that, “we are not unaware of the traffic problem the total closure of the bridge would bring on the residents and thus, our resolve double our effort in lending a helping hand to reduce the effect of the traffic hiccups on the populace especially during these three days.”

While describing the project as a welcome development from a responsible government, the NGO therefore urged the people to support and cooperate with the Federal Government, under President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola and the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu towards the success of the project.

According to the release, the NGO, admitted that, though the six months partial closure period had given cause for sacrifice, endurance and perseverance from all Nigerians, the sacrifice must be extended to the three days total close of some sections for the road, thanking the Government for alternative routes provided.

Motorists and other road users are therefore advised to exhibit decorum and cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies and traffic officials in charge of traffic control, admonishing the people to make safety their watchword.
