Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has joined the Peoples Democratic Party after screened out of APC gubernatorial primaries.
The governor disclosed this to the media after receiving membership card on Friday.
“I have officially joined the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State
“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state, he said.
This comes a week after Governor Obaseki was screened out and declared unfit to participate in the APC primary election ahead of the September 19 governorship poll in Edo State.
On Friday last week, the Screening Committee led by Professor Jonathan Ayuba submitted its report to the party’s leadership after it screened Governor Obaseki who is seeking re-election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and four other aspirants.
The other aspirants include Dr Pius Odubu, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Osaro Obazee, and Matthew Iduoriyekemwen.
